Martin is a director of Haughton and Young and is responsible for Corporate development, as well as contributing to business-related strategies and bid management. His combination of Public and Private sector experience, as well as roles in construction, design, and procurement, ensures that HYL is well served corporately, and uniquely positioned to offer a truly quality service to every client.
Martin, a graduate of UCD’s School of Architecture, a Fellow of the RIAI, a Member of the Association of Professional Project Managers, and a member of the Institute of Directors , is an industry professional with 38 years experience in both Public and Private Sectors, and in the Construction Sector. His career has encompassed periods in Ireland’s Office of Public Works, as Principal Architect to Lesotho Government in Southern Africa, and more recently as Manager of Professional & Technical Services in Ireland’s Department of Education & Skills. His experience also includes positions as Ireland’s representative on the OECD’s PEB (Program on Educational Buildings) in Paris and vice-Chair of its Bureau, Director of Dublin Zoo and Chair of its Development Committee, and Governor of Fota Wildlife Park.
He is currently CEO of his own company, Solutions4Infrastructure, providing a variety of support services to the construction industry in Ireland.
Martin is currently a member of the RIAI’s Committee on Procurement/Salaries/& Fees, he also Chairs the Mark Heffernan Trust, set up in 2010 to highlight SADS ( Sudden Arrythmic Death Syndrome ) to support activities around research into the condition which accounts for the death of one young person every week in Ireland and the UK.
